Family time

Last night we had a family night out...

first we went to dinner and I try to teach my kids good manners especially while eating where
others can watch us. But the picture is of Chase putting ice cream on his nose...We do have family rules at the table
1-- no burping at the table
2== no farting at the table
someone is always being sent the their room for breaking 1 or 2 or both
we will be adding not putting food on our faces!!

I get so excited to eat out, it is one of my favorite things to do and when the food stinks it is so disappointing.. but the company was good!!

after dinner we headed downtown to ride the river taxi's on the canal. Downtown has an area called Bricktown. Its is a bunch of building made out of brick's (obviously) that were built right after the land run around 1907. They made a river threw the buildings and have boats that take you threw it.. trees were all decorated with lights and business had lights and fun things to see. The best part of this was it was free!!!!
One fun thing was they gave you glasses to look at the lights and it change it to this!

On the canal we passed Sonic.. the first Sonic was built in Shawnee Ok and has grown to one of the largest fast food spots. (i just made that up, maybe it is true?)
We passed their headquarters and I swear you could smell their onion rings!

Next we passed Toby Keith's I heart this bar and grill...Yeah that's what is says!!

He lives about 30 min. from downtown and grew up somewhere here in the state. The kids all wished we would have eat'n here instead.

We saw some familiar faces...

They really do have pretty blue eyes!

We ended our night here just to look at the big fish..Blayne loved it!

I HEART family time.

what???

Today Aubrey had a Christmas party at school. Being in the not so Christmas spirit I did not make her cookies that looked like reindeer (Rudolf-- I was corrected by a little boy). Tons of candy came home with her including a goody bag with markers, notebooks, noise makers, pencils YEAH. Well being the great mom I am I sent her to class with 2 bags of
microwave popcorn
Yes popcorn...it did not have any yummy almond bark on it or sugary coating
NO nothing
Then I was chatting with Aubrey's cute little friend Reese's grandma. Reese's mother is expecting and is due in January so I was asking about her. I said " So will you be able to watch the baby?".......Grandma says..."well she is kind of private but the baby's father will be there and we will of course be at the hospital."
What .....I wasn't asking about watching your daughter give birth.......ugh......
I then quickly said...."OH will you be able to babysit the baby when she goes back to work!"
she said yes and then I had to jump the aid of Kalab who was rearranging the work stations...
What a day!!
will it be better tomorrow?

Ba-humbug

How do you loose the Christmas spirit and how do you get it back??? I don't want to bake anything, I don't want to go anywhere. WHAT is wrong with me?

I only have tomorrow to finish shopping for the kids

and Chase has a toothbrush --- that is it!!!

Book

I finished this book at the church this week when I had a lot of time to kill..... I started this book and liked it, but if I had a choice of reading and blogging I chose blogging.... I thought it was a cute story about a boy from Florida whose dad tried to sink a casino boat that was dumping all their toilet waste in the ocean and was sent to jail. The young boy (can't think of the boys name -see how much it impacted my life) and his sister tried to catch the owner in the act. I did enjoy it and it is on the Oklahoma Sequoyah Award list. It is a cute story and I did like it.

We are home!!!

We made it home!!!! Monday night we tried to stay at our house with no power and it was COLD we could hear trees cracking and falling outside all night. We woke up to such a mess outside. It was just so cold and boring to stay at our house. We tried to go to Wal-Mart to get a few things and it was closed, Buy for Less was closed, Target was running on back up generators so we ran in and bought a few things.... So later that night we headed over to the church to stay with a few other families....We spent 3 nights at the church in Aubrey's class room. I tried to take pictures and the camera needed to be charged..go figure... Oh the things that need power... On Friday our Stake President brought a generator to our house and hooked it up so we went home and spent the night in our own beds... Then today around 12:00am our power flickered and came on!! WhooHoo.......and it is still going.. I am alive and WARM... We still have sooo much to do, we have trees down and the limbs are all frozen to the ground. I am so glad to have my power and feel so bad for those that don't have it yet... I am sooo grateful for all my friends that checked on me or brought me and my family food..

THANK YOU...

ice day..

So the weather man on koco channel 4 said "We are having a historical storm".

Ice....ice... and more ice. Because of all the ice church was cancelled yesterday and there is no school today....It is expected to continue all day today and tomorrow. Just wanted to share some pictures of today...Our neighbor had these limbs fall on this door step

A few days ago men came and cut down tree limbs in our neighbors yard around all the power lines..I was kind of annoyed that they piled all the limbs in our yard...Well today I am happy I could of helped ...I still have power and hopefully it will stay on!!!

I am going to drink more hot chocolate!!!

Scotch-a-Roos baby Scotch-a-Roos

They don't look great in my photo, but....
my oh my...these are the best

1 cup Peanut butter
1 cup Karo Syrup
1 cup Sugar
6 cups Rice Krispys
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup butterscotch chips

Mix Peanut butter, Karo syrup and sugar over med. heat, melt altogether. Add rice krispys, mix together. Pour into 9x13 pan....while warm sprinkle chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. *hint...if your chocolate chips and butterscotch chips don't melt, get out the hair dryer and melt the beauties......spread the melted chips over the top.....
I think this recipe came from one of my aunts on the Kellett side....I just remember them always being at any party I went to with them......And one of my aunts didn't put any chips on the top and we dipped them in a chocolate fountain.......oh how gooooood

Volcano

VOLCANO (vŏl-kā'nō) noun, an opening in the earth's crust where melted rock, lava, gases, and ash are thrust onto the land.....(or maybe just baking soda and vinegar with a little red food coloring)

Yesterday Taylor had to demonstrate how his volcano worked for his class. He had to talk about volcano's and explain how he made his....

He worked really hard at putting it together and painting it...There was a side of me that wanted to JAZZ it up and put a little of Martha Stewart in it but I refrained myself and let him enjoy working on it and sharing HIS project with the class......
